Czech Living Lab – Agrihub.cz innovation network

Many small and medium-sized farms lack the necessary digital skills, resources, and access to technical support to adopt advanced technologies such as Earth observation, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, robotics, or blockchain-based traceability. The Czech Living Lab focuses on co-designing, testing, and scaling digital solutions, improving digital literacy, and connecting Czech agriculture to European innovation ecosystems. It operates as part of the national Agrihub.cz innovation network, bringing together SMEs, researchers, farmers, farmers’ associations, and public authorities to co-create and test precision agriculture solutions under real-world conditions. Anchored within the Plan4all Digital Innovation Hub, the Czech Living Lab combines technical expertise from WirelessInfo (geospatial ICT, IoT, and interoperability) and the Czech Association for Social Agriculture (CCSS) (community-based and inclusive farming approaches).

Through the Agrihub.cz platform, the Living Lab links national and international actors to:

  • transfer digital competences into agri-food manufacturing SMEs,
  • validate and adapt precision farming solutions to local conditions, and
  • provide an open platform for dialogue, training, and upskilling in digital agriculture.

The Living Lab thus represents a dynamic, multi-actor testing environment that enables the translation of innovation into practice, supporting the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Czech agriculture.

The primary tasks and actions undertaken within the Czech Living Lab:

  • education and certification
  • development infrastructure for the Living Lab
  • links to EU projects and stakeholders
  • new approach to metadata handling and use
  • federated Artificial Intelligence
  • foundations of an AI-based AKIS.
